Warbook Excel Calculator

Postby Marmalade » Sun Jan 27, 2008 11:24 pm

Ok, I know that there are a few WarBook calculators out there. Brimstone and Warbook Spyer do fairly good jobs. I have done my own, which used Adric's as a base but extended it quite a bit.

One thing it tries to do is explain how several calculations (like income and defensive score) are accomplished.

Another thing it has is a combat calculator for determining enemy defensive score and giving an idea of much you should send to attack (as a percentage of your army).

What I mostly use it for (and I think many people will) is to calculate soldier purchases, temporary barracks cost and elite upgrade cost.

Please download and take a look. Even if you don't use it you may want it as a reference. For example it has a table of the different Elite units so you don't have to look them up in the Warbook help. In fact, it is very clear on all the differences in the Hero types.

I would like to get as much feedback as possible. What do you like and not like about it? What else should it do? Does it display correctly for you (WarBook look and feel)?

The only real feature I am working on next is a logging system that takes a snapshot of the kingdom's current stats. That way you can record your growth over time.

To get it, go to the Warbook Calculator's Guild and click on the link for latest Excel version.

Great program. Really usefull. A suggestion though, would be to also add the option to calculate how many elites you can buy. This is the basic formula that I came up with from what you told me:

G = Gold Available
V = Buy rate
T = Tax
B = Soldier cost
E = Elite cost
S = Total elite cost
Z = Elites
W = What to send

G = 165,024,000
T = 0.81 (0.9 x 0.9)
B = 31.5 (V/T)
E = 200
S = 231.5 (B + E)
Z = 712,846 (G/S)
W = 22,454,669 (Z x B)

So the formula is:
G/S = Z x B = W, right?

----------------------------------------------------------

So if you can somehow implement that formula it would be very useful to automatically calculate it instead of us having to do. It would already have most of the firgures needed.

New version posted which contains this calculation.

Also posted is a new Lite version, without graphics, brimstone support, or macros. But it does import into Google Docs.

Let me know what else you guys want!

Where are they? I saw the posts on the discussion board but didn't find the download links in the posts or on the main page.

Thanks. I'm the guy who asked in that thread btw. Didn't you say the elite buying formula will be in this one? or will it be in the next?

Oh, thanks. Didn't notice it after the upgrade as it wasn't in the change log. BTW,I noticed a spelling error. In J,K & L 6 it says "Cost to convert to barracks to mines" should be "Cost to convert from barracks to mines". Also, the text seems a little fague. Maybe it could say "Gold to spend to get full elites"? Anyway, it's a great program. Can't wait to see what else you'll add to it.

I've updated the text fro the next revision, however I am not going to do a new version just for that.

I've had around 43 people download version 7. 6 people download 7.1 and 3 people download 7.1 Lite.

After all this, I've really had only two people give me feedback. So if anyone has suggestions, calculations they would like to see, etc, let me know.

BTW, if there are any Automators or Necromancers out there who would like to help me out, I need to better understand your recent class changes.
